Life of Laura Ingles.....

Unfortunately to do a Blog, you need WIFI.  In our current gypsy life we don't always have access to WIFI, or Television for that matter.  We have the necessities.....food, air conditioning and running water.  Oh and cell phones!  So we can call out (when there is service) or text (when there is service), but we have come to find out that the 1 gb of Data our phone plan has, is like gold.  We use it sparingly, due to the astronomical overage cost, continually checking the current data usage, holding our breath as we get close to our limit.  But having it on our little phone screens doesn't compare to being able to actually use a real computer!  Gabe is learning what it was like when I was a child, no computers, no internet, no cell phones, no texting and no television.  He asked me how did we survive!  So he has learned to live with out electronics on a daily basis, reading and playing instead.  Reminds me of when he was little, when life was so much easier.  This journey is bringing that back to us and reminding us what we have been missing.

Hours go by while he plays....

It is already August.  Time and days have flown by, I couldn't tell you what day it is some mornings.  We have been gone since June 7th, almost 2 months.  So much we have seen and done, so much to remember so I can put in this blog!  We have taken more pictures, in between our old fashioned digital camera and our IPhones, overloading the memory, having to down load pictures every few days onto the computer so we can keep using our phones.

We are trying to camp in State Parks along our journey.  The cost is the main factor.  The difference of $17.00 a night with hook ups to Electricity and Water at a State Park, compared to $40.00 a night for the same thing at a privately owned RV Park, can add up.  But you also get what you pay for at some places.  There is no WIFI at most State Parks.  They facilities are more, um, "Rustic", I would say.  You don't generally shower by yourself, having several creatures peering down at you from above.  You will either have a door or a curtain or nothing at all.  It is a big learning curve for all of us.  Thankfully we have a full size shower in our camper.  And a toilet.  You also find a different "class" of people who stay at State Parks compared to Private RV Parks.  Not always a bad thing, just different mentalities among them.  And sometimes cleanliness.  And, um, decorum.  All part of our journey.

So lets take a step back in time so you can catch up to where we have been and where we are going...

After boondocking for 2 nights on our way out of Florida (for those of you that don't know what boondocking is, it is where you stay overnight without hooking up to any water or electricity or sewer.  It can be at a Rest Area, Walmart or a Truck Stop.  When you are self contained it is easier as you having everything you need all under one roof.  Thanks to a generator and a 100 gallon Water Tank.)

We finally made it to Alabama.  Beautiful blue skies.  Sun shine and warm weather.  Joe and Gabe spent the morning touring the USS Alabama.  Their tour took a little over 2 hours.  I spent that glorious quiet time re organizing the motor home.  It was my special time.  We didn't spend much time in Alabama after that, to much to see and do and not a lot of time.
